Hi there! My name is Amanda!
I’m excited to share my story with you. Before I became a travel agent, my life looked a lot different. I wasn’t always free to roam the world, working from wherever I wanted, helping others plan their dream vacations. In fact, I spent over a decade in the restaurant industry (specifically country clubs) as a professional chef, where the work was rewarding but exhausting, completely unaware that my love for travel could be more than just a hobby. It wasn’t until life gave me a few hard lessons that I realized I needed a change.
I grew up in a small town in Kansas (think lots of open skies, friendly faces, and not a lot of places to “get away”). A place where most people stick close to home. I grew up with a pretty simple, grounded life—nothing too extraordinary. But even from a young age, I felt like there was more out there for me. I had this insatiable curiosity about the world. I wanted to see different places, meet new people, experience local cuisine and life beyond the familiar. But like many of us, I got caught up in the day-to-day grind of working hard, paying bills, and never really giving myself the chance to step outside that routine.
It took me years to work my way up into management and eventually become an executive chef running my own kitchen, and it allowed me to utilize one of my passions - cooking. It was a great fit for me until I hit a physical wall. The 80-hour weeks were draining my energy, my knees were shot, and I knew deep down that I couldn’t keep going like that.
My turning point came when I realized that I didn’t just want more freedom and adventure—I needed it. And that's when I took a chance on something that was quietly calling me all along: travel. There were dreams I hadn’t chased yet, trips I hadn’t taken, and experiences I was missing out on. I knew something had to change.
That’s when I started looking into becoming a travel agent. At first, it seemed like a distant dream—could I really turn my love for travel into a career? The more I learned about it, though, the more excited I became. Not only could I help people plan incredible trips, but I could also build a life where I was no longer tied down to one place. I could create a lifestyle that gave me the freedom to be there for my family, explore the world, and most importantly, live on my own terms.
Starting my own travel agency was one of the scariest and most exciting decisions I’ve ever made. I won’t lie, there were moments when I questioned if I could really pull it off. I didn’t have all the answers. But I was determined to learn and grow, and what I discovered along the way is that you don’t have to have everything figured out—you just have to be willing to take that first step.
Now, I get to help others design the kind of life they want through travel. I’ve been able to work from home, travel to places I used to only dream of, and, most importantly, be present for the moments that matter most in my life. I’m proud of the business I’ve built.
When I’m not helping clients plan their adventures, I’m working on one of my own—restoring a vintage Airstream trailer. It’s been a project close to my heart because it represents that sense of freedom and adventure that’s always been calling me.
I can’t wait for the day when I can hit the road with it, visiting new places, trying local foods, and making memories with the people I love! But what I’m even more passionate about is helping others—people like you—discover that you can do this, too.
